Successfully Managing a Dredging Project.

The project

Dutch flag CoWaves Region: Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Project Summary: In 2018, LNG Canada, part of Shell, launched plans to build a new LNG terminal in Kitimat, Canada. The project required the construction of a jetty to support the safe loading and bunkering of LNG. Royal Boskalis, a leading dredging company, was awarded the contract for the dredging scope.

Given the project’s complexity and scale, Boskalis sought additional expertise to manage the intricate planning and contractual details. Critical Minds was engaged to provide specialized support and appointed CoWaves as the Contract Planner. Working alongside the project team, Cowaves ensured a clear, coordinated, and transparent approach to planning—laying the groundwork for effective execution in one of Canada’s most ambitious LNG developments.

OUR ROLE

As Contract Planner, CoWaves was responsible for defining the project’s critical path—a task that extended far beyond aligning materials and schedules. Establishing a meaningful and realistic timeline required assessing and clarifying all potential risks and bottlenecks, from material availability and financial constraints to facility access and weather conditions. By continuously analyzing how these factors interacted, CoWaves ensured a balanced, data-driven plan that kept the project on track despite its complexity.
